"In Chicago, there are only two seasons:
winter and July."
So said Sylvie, and sometimes I think that's me:
the noisy gusts of bustling and bitterness -
the frigid foyers, the implacable greys -

and the rooms of books and music
for those who endure the season

and also the slam of unrestrained radiance -
embraces unglued, the streets too sharp -
all things made cracked or collapsed by the heat -

but still the rooms of books and music
for those who endure the season.
